EU/ICT WORK PROGRAMME 2011

By: Dr. Holger Mühlbauer

ICT – INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS TECHNOLOGIES -

The European Commission published the FP7 ICT work programme 2011. Objective ICT-2011.1.4 outlines the research priorities in the field of Trustworthy ICT.

Target outcomes are expected to contribute to:
- Heterogeneous networked, service and computing environments;
- Trust, eIdentity and Privacy management infrastructures;
- Data policy, governance and socio-economic ecosystems;
- Networking and Coordination activities.

The call for this objective is expected to open mid-2011. Projects must ensure strong interplay with legal, social and economic research in view of development of a techno-legal system that is usable, socially accepted and economically viable. Furthermore, this work programme presents another opportunity to conduct Trust and Security related research, under the Future Internet Public Private Partnership (FI-PPP). The FI-PPP targets a versatile (multi-use case) and open network and service platform, supported by reusable, standardised and commonly shared technology enablers serving a multiplicity of use cases in "smart applications". The call for the FI-PPP (objectives 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 and 1.10) has opened today and will close on 2 December 2010. The total funding budget is €90mln.
