TeleTrusT Germany invites applications for IT Security Innovation Award 2010 – Applications open until 2010-06-30

Independent award for 'Best Practice in IT Security'

Berlin, 26.01.2010 - Since 1999, the IT Security Association TeleTrusT has invited innovative companies and institutions to compete for their "TeleTrusT Innovation Award". Applicants have time until June 30th to submit their projects. The award puts particular emphasis on electronic signatures in Europe and aims to reflect the objectives of TeleTrusT in promoting best practice in trustworthy electronic business. The TeleTrusT Innovation Award ceremony is traditionally a part of the international IT security conference "Information Security Solutions Europe" (ISSE), which will take place in Berlin from
October 5–7.

The TeleTrusT Innovation Award is intended for European companies or institutions that develop or apply innovative and trusted information technology, software or online services for electronic applications in industry and government.

Selection criteria for the TeleTrusT Innovation Award are:

- The degree of innovation

- The benefit to the user

- The compliance with standards

- The exemplary character of the submitted proposal at national, European and global level

The evaluation is conducted by an international jury. The jury is also representative of TeleTrusT’s focus on IT security in an interdisciplinary manner – hence including the scientific perspective and considering privacy issues as well as consumer protection. The jury investigates whether the security level of the application is appropriate and whether the security features are an integral part of the product.

Special emphasis is placed on transparency and ease of use of integrated security features. Further relevance is placed on interoperability and a measurable economic benefit of the application.
