ETSI: "Extended Validation Certificates"

New work started in January 2011 to provide guidance on the application of TS 102 042 (ESI – Policy requirements for the specification for certification authorities issuing public certificates) to certification authorities (CAs) issuing extended validation (EV) certificates as specified by the CA Browser Forum (CAB Forum). This will include guidance for application of policy requirements specified in TS 102 042 to CAs, as well as the conformity assessment and audit of such CAs in line with CWA 14172-2 (or its future replacement). A special report will also be produced considering the possible approaches to a governance and audit regime for assessment for CA issuing EV certificates within the existing European framework for accreditation of CAs, as well as the existing framework for accreditation of IT Security auditors.
