Transatlantische Partnerschaft: TeleTrusT European Bridge CA (EBCA) und SAFE-BioPharma Bridge CA (SBCA) kooperieren / Transatlantic Alliance: TeleTrusT European Bridge CA (EBCA) and SAFE-BioPharma Bridge CA (SBCA) become partners

Berlin, 19.05.2016 - Internetsicherheit ist Thema der aktuellen Konsultationen, zu denen Bundesinnenminister Thomas De Maizière in den USA weilt. Der Bundesverband IT-Sicherheit e.V. (TeleTrusT) und die US-Organisation SAFE-BioPharma haben ein transatlantisches Bündnis für sichere Kommunikation etabliert. Künftig werden sich die TeleTrusT European Bridge CA und die SAFE-BioPharma Bridge CA auf Arbeitsgruppenebene austauschen, um die Verbreitung vertrauenswürdiger elektronischer Signaturen und damit verschlüsselte und authentische Kommunikation auf beiden Seiten weiter auszubauen.

In Zukunft soll es für teilnehmende Unternehmen und Organisationen beider Seiten einfacher werden, mit den jeweils anderen Teilnehmern in Kontakt zu treten. Dabei soll außerdem der beiderseitige Wissensaustausch beim Thema PKI, Verschlüsselung und Authentifizierung gefördert werden. "Die neue Verbindung mit der European Bridge Certificate Authority ist eine wichtige Komponente in unserem wachsenden Beziehungsnetzwerk mit anderen PKI-basierten Certificate Authorities weltweit", erklärt Peter Alterman, Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer der SAFE-BioPharma Association.

Für Teilnehmer der TeleTrusT European Bridge CA wird diese Partnerschaft in Zukunft den Aufbau von bilateralen Vertrauensstellungen zu einzelnen US-Unternehmen vereinfachen. TeleTrusT-Vorsitzender Prof. Dr. Norbert Pohlmann: "Nichtkompromittierte verschlüsselte Kommunikation bedarf einer weitaus stärkeren Verbreitung. Daher ist es wichtig, in die USA Brücken zu schlagen, wenn entsprechende Standards eingehalten werden". Die EBCA und SBCA sind sich ähnlich und übernehmen in ihrem jeweiligen Kontext den Aufbau von Vertrauensstellungen. Eine vom Absender bis zum Empfänger durchgehend verschlüsselt übertragene E-Mail-Kommunikation im Internet (Ende-zu-Ende-Verschlüsselung) ist immer noch nicht die Regel, sondern die Ausnahme. Die Verbindung mit der SAFE-BioPharma Bridge CA kann helfen, das Thema im internationalen Kontext voranzubringen.

TeleTrusT European Bridge CA (EBCA)

Die TeleTrusT European Bridge CA (EBCA) ist ein Zusammenschluss einzelner, gleichberechtigter Public-Key-Infrastrukturen (PKIen) zu einem PKI-Verbund. Sie ermöglicht eine sichere und authentische Kommunikation zwischen den beteiligten Unternehmen, Institutionen und öffentlichen Verwaltungen. Durch die Mitgliedschaft in der EBCA können ausgegebene Zertifikate über lokale "Identitätsinseln" hinaus verwendet werden. Somit werden unterschiedliche Geschäftsprozesse (Secure Email, Secure Logon, Secure eID, etc.) über die Grenzen der einzelnen Organisationen hinweg nutzbar gemacht (https://www.ebca.de).

SAFE-BioPharma Association, und SAFE-BioPharma Bridge CA (SBCA)

Die SAFE-BioPharma Association (http://www.safe-biopharma.org/) ist ein nicht gewinnorientierter Industrie-Zusammenschluss, verantwortlich für den digitalen SAFE-BioPharma^® Identitäts- und Signaturstandard, der weltweit im biopharmazeutischen und Gesundheitssektor genutzt wird. Die SAFE-BioPharma Bridge Certification Authority (SBCA) erfüllt die rechtlichen Voraussetzungen für Online-Vertrauensstellungen in den USA, der EU und andernorts. Sie ist das Zentrum einer hochgesicherten Vertrauensarchitektur für Aussteller digitaler Zertifikate, die zwei Mechanismen zur Identifizierung von Vertrauenspartnern einsetzt: 1. Cross-Zertifizierung: Kryptographisch gebundene Cross-Zertifikate im Austausch mit konform ausstellenden Mitgliedern der PKI-Gemeinschaft nach dem US Government’s Federal PKI Architecture Model; 2.Vertrauenslisten: Veröffentlichung einer CA-Liste vertrauenswürdiger Partner nach EU Qualified Certificate Program Model. Cross-Zertifikate werden ausgegeben und verwaltet in Übereinstimmung mit den Vorgaben der US Federal Bridge CA. Vertrauenslisten werden nach ETSI EN 119 612 ausgegeben.

Berlin, May 19, 2016 - The IT Security Association Germany (TeleTrusT) and the US organization SAFE-BioPharma have recently established a transatlantic alliance for secure communication. In the future TeleTrusT European Bridge CA and SAFE-BioPharma Bridge CA will exchange experiences at the working group level to encourage the dissemination of trustworthy electronic signatures as well as the encrypted and authentic bilateral communication.

The interaction with respective partners will become easier for participating companies and organizations on both sides. Furthermore, the bilateral exchange of knowledge relating to PKI, digital signatures and entities should be further promoted. "The new association with the European Bridge Certificate Authority is an important component in our growing network of relationships with other PKI-based certificate authorities around the globe," says Peter Alterman, Ph.D., Chief Operating Officer, SAFE-BioPharma Association.

For subscribers of TeleTrusT European Bridge CA this partnership will facilitate the development of bilateral positions of trust for individual US companies in the future. TeleTrusT Chairman Prof. Dr. Norbert Pohlmann: "Non-compromised, encrypted communication needs to be far more strongly disseminated. That´s why it is important to build a bridge to the USA if the appropriate standards are met." The EBCA and SBCA are quite similar and in their respective context they are responsible for the development of positions of trust. An encrypted email communication transmitted from sender to recipient on the internet (end-to-end encryption") is not always the norm, but actually the exception. The connection to SAFE-BioPharma Bridge CA can help to promote this subject in international context.

The TeleTrusT European Bridge CA (EBCA) is a consortium of individual, equal Public Key Infrastructures (PKI) in a PKI network of trust. It supports secure and authentic communication between businesses, institutions and public authorities. The membership in the EBCA enables issued certificates to be used beyond the local "identity islands". Thus, various business processes (e.g. Secure Email, Secure Logon, Secure eID, etc.) can be utilized beyond the boundaries of individual organizations (https://www.ebca.de/en).

SAFE-BioPharma Association, and SAFE-BioPharma Bridge CA (SBCA)

SAFE-BioPharma Association (www.safe-biopharma.org) is the non-profit industry coalition responsible for the SAFE-BioPharma^® digital identity and signature standard used in the global biopharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. The SAFE-BioPharma Bridge Certification Authority (SBCA) satisfies legal requirements for online trust in the US, the EU and elsewhere. It is the hub of a high assurance trust architecture for issuers of digital certificates, utilizing two mechanisms to identify trust partners; 1. Cross-Certification: Cryptographically bound cross-certificates exchanged with compliant issuer members of the PKI community following the US government’s Federal PKI Architecture model. 2.Trust Lists: Publication of a list of trusted partner CAs following the EU Qualified Certificate Program model. Cross certificates are issued and managed in compliance with the US Federal Bridge CA requirements and the Trust List is issued in compliance with ETSI EN 119 612.
